OVERVIEW

A spring 5 day WASA camp during the world's biggest ski/snowboard festival at Whistler,BC. This camp's main focus is steep ski mountaineering in the coast mountains of the Whistler Blackcomb backcountry. The lifts of Whistler Blackcomb will be used to access the upper peaks and glaciers of the Spearhead Range (world class glacier skiing and steep ski descents to all ability levels).

THE AREA

Timed with the famous Telus Ski and Snowboard Festival, WASA athletes will be challenged during the day in the backcountry, but also have the opportunity to experience all the great culture and live music during apres ski. " Imagine skiing the best line of your life, and then celebrating over a pint and some famous live music."

We will meeting the night of the 19th for a camp overview in the Whistler village. Starting on the 20th we will be meeting at the gondola base for departure's into the blackcomb backcountry for some World class ski mountaineering.

THE CAMP

This camp specializes in ski mountaineering for any level.

The Advanced Camp topics include: Use of the Rope on heavily crevassed glaciers, ski cutting in steep terrain, controlling cornice hazard, and hazard evaluation.

The Intermediate Camp topics include: Proper use of the rope on glaciers, application of the mountain axe, evaluation on snow stability, and steep ski clinics to name a few.

The Beginner Camp topics include: Intro to ski touring, intro to glaciers, use of avalanche gear, intro to glacier travel, and off piste ski descents.
