OVERVIEW
Have you ever wanted to get a handle on how to play safe in the backcountry?
• WASA Level 1 Avalanche covers all steps on avalanche safety.
• Skier/Snowboarder ability should be at the intermediate level and have a basic understanding of backcountry ski equipment.
• This two day Avalanche course covers all aspects of the avalanche phenomenon.

Athlete's get personal training and coaching from WASA Mountain Guides. The small groups gives our athletes high quality instruction and coaching.
STUDENTS WILL LEARN HOW TO:
• Interpret weather/avalanche forecasts to plan their day
• Make good decisions based on current conditions & forecasts
• Identify terrain which is prone to avalanching.
• Identify & demonstrate good terrain choices when in the field.
• Basic understanding of snowpack layering & make up.
• Basic knowledge of snowpack stability tests & identification of suspect layers.
• General understanding of different snowpacks & climates.
• Identifying hazards
• Understanding, practice & management of an avalanche incident.
• Intro to ski touring
